This is Maria, our latest travel brainster and a travel blogger from Bulgaria. She discovered her passion to travel pretty late in life, just two years ago. But once it kicks in, it never stops. Ever since her first trip abroad in 2013, she’s become more and more curious about the world. Now, she loves to share her travel adventures in Europe on her blog Travelling Buzz. She also loves to write about her home country Bulgaria, so everyone can enjoy this beautiful Balkan gem and I hope I will too in the near future.
1. What is your best travel memory?
It may sound pretty cliché, but it was when I first saw the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was one of my first trips and that moment was when I realized that everything is possible. Years ago I was wondering if I would ever get the chance to see those beautiful places from the postcards and now I don’t have to wonder anymore.
When I saw the Eiffel Tower, I was stunned. This special moment opened up my eyes to the possibilities in front of us. After this trip to Paris, I travelled to many more beautiful places because I finally realized that travelling is not only fun and affordable for everyone, but it also gives you the best lessons in life.
2. What is the strangest incident you have had during your travels?
It is from Paris again (oh, that place!). Just less than an hour after we arrived in the city, a super strange pain in my eye started bothering me. It was bearable until bedtime when it became awful with every blink. And you can imagine how hard it is when you have no choice but to blink every few seconds.
The reason, I think, was a broken blood vessel in my eye from the air pressure. Fortunately, in the morning the pain was gone and I could enjoy my Paris trip. That is my strangest incident so far.
3. What’s the number one item on your bucket list?
I do have a travel bucket list but it’s always growing. My number one item since I started keeping it has always been to see the Northern lights. This magical phenomenon is absolutely spectacular and I can’t wait to see it. I know someday I will because, as I said, everything is possible.
4. If you were stranded on an island, which one should it be?
Well, Australia is technically an island, so it will work for me. The country has so many places I want to visit. I bet travel channels just scare us with those “dangerous animals” stories so Australians can keep their beautiful country for themselves. So convenient! Ha ha.
5. What is your secret travel tip?
Follow happiness! This means to focus on the good experiences and enjoy your travel moments no matter how hard some times may be.
Have you ever been to Paris and how did it affect you? Share your experience with us and stop by Maria’s blog and/or social media to say hi as well.
