What Makes a Luxury Villa?
I swear the majority of Seminyak villas in Bali are really quite stylish. Besides the typical hotels in Seminyak though, there are plenty of Seminyak private villas hidden all over the place. This means, you are not necessarily room to room with other guests like in hotels but have more space in your individual housing unit.
What makes a villa stand out particularly and qualify as a luxury villa in Seminyak are its modern amenities. This includes access to private pools, a tropical garden, spa and massage treatment as well as a neat and stylish interior.
Since Bali is overall very affordable for Western travellers you don’t have to be super rich to treat yourself to some of the best villas Seminyak! To help you decide I’ve put together some of the best Seminyak villas in Bali according to different budgets.
Seminyak Travel Tips
Why a Seminyak Luxury Villa?
Bali is seen as a paradise by many and marketed as The Island of Gods. With tourism constantly increasing over the past few years, amazing Bali hotels keep sprouting up everywhere. A great location to set up base for Bali explorations is Seminyak. It lies halfway between Canggu and Kuta or Ubud, two major hotspots in Bali’s South.
While Canggu is perfect for digital nomads thanks to the many coworking spaces, Ubud is a haven for yogis and spirituality seekers. Kuta is THE place for beach going in the day and partying at night. It’s close to the airport and full of shopping opportunities.
Seminyak is a happy best of both worlds. Streets are always busy and full of wonderful stores with products ranging from furniture, interior decoration over to fashion and plenty of souvenirs. Don’t forget all the eateries and charming little cafes! The beach isn’t far away either and not as crowded as in Kuta, for instance.
How to Get around Seminyak
Seminyak has sidewalks so you can walk around, which is great for window shopping, and get all the way to Seminyak beach. Streets are lined with excellent bars, restaurants, clubs and plenty of local and international clothing stores.
Most of the luxury hotels in Seminyak offer free shuttle services so it’s even easier to get around. Should you want to see more of Bali, you can have your rental car or day tours arranged for you at the reception or through your concierge or butler.
A typical way to get around Bali with ease and speed is through Gojek. These are bike carriers, who can get shopping or takeaways for you or even take you on their scooter or their car to anywhere in Bali. Download the free app to get access.
The Best Time to Visit Seminyak
Bali is beautiful and has warm temperatures year round thanks to its tropical climate. However, it does make a difference if you travel in dry or rainy season. For dry season, which runs from May to October, May to July are generally the best months to visit.
If you want to surf in Seminyak, surf season runs from April to November. This way, you can catch the trade winds from offshore. Also, if you want to snorkel in Seminyak, visit during dry season so you can actually see.
Bali’s high season can get crazy and hotels fill up pretty quickly. On top of that, room prices can more than double so if you want to save a little, best book off season and in advance. If you prefer less crowds, avoid high season, which is during July, August and the Easter/Christmas/NY holidays.
Special note: Check the times for Nyepi, Bali’s New Year celebration. For 2019 it’s from March 7 to 8 and in 2020 it’s March 25 to 26. What happens during Nyepti in Bali is that the entire island shuts down for all day prayers. No planes fly, no taxis go and you can’t leave your room or villa. So you need to prepare in advance if you are planning on being in Bali during that time. What makes Nyepi beautiful is the silence that embraces Bali and the cleanliness and songs of birds that suddenly fill the air.
What to Pack for Seminyak
Seminyak in Bali enjoys warm tropical weather all year round and there is an abundance of shops and dining options. You are pretty much well taken care of, especially when you stay at one of the best villas in Seminyak Bali. Here is a complete Bali packing list for women. But if you need the short version, here it is:
All you need to pack to be ready to sink into your private pool are: 2x swimwear, a sarong or beach coverup (Bali is conservative when it comes to dress code on the streets), flip flops and sun hat. Sun lotion is rather expensive in Bali, so it’s best to bring your own. If you have a reasonably big pool, you could also bring a pool float with you (such as this unicorn float or flamingo).
Local insect repellent is affordable, so it doesn’t matter if you bring your own or buy in Seminyak. You definitely need bug spray as mosquitoes can be annoying – especially during evening. Mosquitoes in Indonesia carry potential diseases, such as Dengue Fever.
There’s always a risk of that but it’s highest from October to March, during rainy season. Pro tip: If you do forget to bring your insect repellent along, ask at your restaurant for some or ask your hotel reception to spray your room if you see a trapped mosquito.
Budget Seminyak Luxury Villas $25-150
While you may have to forego on some pretty neat perks, there are cheap Seminyak villas available. These are great if you are a solo traveler and can’t split rooms with friends or a partner but still want to treat yourself like the Queen you are.
Dash Hotel Seminyak
If you want a break with an artsy touch and quirky décor, check in to Dash Hotel. Rooms have a very edgy feel with one graffiti/comic art wall, metal pipe shelves and plenty of tasteful splashes of colour. The interior design really blows my mind and is just pure fun.
Plus, it’s strategically located with only a 5 minute walk to Seminyak Beach and hip Potato Head Beach Club. This is where you should come if partying in Seminak is on your list. You can’t help but get into a great mood. Get your night started with a cocktail at the bar or on the roof terrace.
The hotel concierge services include airport transfer, luggage storage, laundry service, business facilities, and even babysitting. There also is an onsite restaurant called Mya Restaurant serving Asian cuisine. (And it also delivers to your room if you feel lazy.) If you want to cater for yourself, you can get a room with a kitchenette.
The Haven Bali Seminyak
One of the best hotels in Seminyak is the uber stylish Haven Bali. From the looks of it you are living in pure glamour but it’s actually affordable – especially if you make it a girls trip and share the room.
Combine your stay with full on pampering at the hotel’s ATMA Spa and get a dopamine kick at the fitness centre. On top of that, there is an onsite restaurant for when your calves hurt and you just can’t walk any further after a hefty workout.
For those epic beach sunsets, get to Legian Beach, which is 800m away. (And there is a free beach shuttle service, too!) Lively Kuta isn’t far off either with only 3km to Kuta Square. To the airport it only takes 15 minutes. Rates start from $67 but if you are lucky, you can snatch special Booking basic deals of only $53.
Villa Kresna Boutique and Suites
For a luxurious feel with super instagrammable suites in pristine white and minimalist, natural décor, stay at Villa Kresna. The hotel facility itself has an outdoor swimming pool and the villas are only 300m away. Some of them have their own outdoor dining area and daybed!
Depending on whether you booked yourself into the suite or the villa, you can enjoy the complimentary breakfast at Kresna Café or The Straw Hut restaurant respectively. (Try the yummy juices!) At the latter, there often is live music in the evenings.
Then, cool down in the air-conditioned rooms, sip a coffee at the art café and rent a bike for your explorations. Seminyak Beach is 5 minute walk away and the airport only a 30 minute drive.
Grandmas Plus Hotel Seminyak
This Seminyak hotel is crazy affordable if you really want to travel on a budget. Basically, you can stay in one of its minimalist, tasteful rooms for the price of a hostel room in Australia or Western Europe.
There is a 24 hour reception, hot showers and activities, such as cooking class, yoga sessions and cycling trips. The beach can be reached after a two minute walk or you can swim in the onsite pool to freshen up during the day.
Even though the main shopping area is just around the corner, the hotel itself enjoys quietness, which is not to be taken for granted in busy Seminyak! On the fifth floor you further have access to a spa and massage facility.
There is a whirlpool suite! However, even if that one is snatched during high season in Seminyak, you can still check for deluxe double or twin rooms. Each of them comes with a beautiful, stylish design of dark wood and warm colours, perfectly blending a Balinese and modern style.
Rooms are ensuite with a bath or shower, free toiletries and you have access to the hotel spa and wellness centre, fitness centre and laundry service. On top of that, there is a free shuttle service.
The hotel itself sits in a prime location. Potato Head Beach Club is only a 5 minute walk away and Petitenget Beach 15 minutes. As the hotel name suggests, you can enjoy sunset views from the rooftop pool and BLUSky Restaurant, which is also a bar and lounge.
Affordable Seminyak Luxury Villas $150-300
There are plenty of Seminyak Bali Luxury villas that are affordable so you can live in the lap of luxury but not break the bank.
A villa I stayed at (sponsored) and loved to bits was Downtown Villas right in the heart of Seminyak. The location is excellent. It sits perfectly half way between Kuta and Canggu and you can get around super quick.
The main shopping street is just around the corner and it was easy to walk around. To the beach it was only 30 minutes by foot. Or 5 if you took advantage of the free club car. And you should; it’s so much fun!
On your way to/from the beach, you will also pass by the sister property The Breezes Seminyak with the stylish restaurant Gigi’s Supreme Slice. Try “Gigi’s Pizza” or the “Meatball Pizza” as well as the “Mango Tango” mocktail.
Sandi Agung Villa
Do you want to relax in a private villa in Seminyak? At Sandi Agung you will feel super secluded from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. Lush tropical plants, private pools and traditional Balinese décor will instantly make you feel in holiday.
It already starts as soon as you arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport. The 30 minute transfer is included in your villa stay! Moreover, you don’t have to wait long until you see the famous Bali shoreline. Petitenget Beach is only a 10 minute drive away and Kuta is a 20 minute drive.
You will really feel like living in Bali in this Seminyak villa as you have access to a well equipped kitchen as well as an open plan living and dining area. If you don’t want to cook for yourself, or bring a takeaway, you can take advantage of the in room dining service.
U Paasha Seminyak Bali
At U Paasha you will not find the typical minimalist Balinese décor but a modern and sleek look and huge rooms. Pair this with a rooftop pool and gym access and you have a classic luxurious experience at one of the best villas in Bali Seminyak.
By the way, the location is excellent with both the beach, shopping facilities and nightlife a few minute walk from your doorstep. Enjoy views over lush tropical plants from your private balcony (opt for in room breakfast!) or soak up in your rain shower.
In case you want to both exercise and discover more of Seminyak and the nearby beach, jump on one of the free bicycles and dine out at the best Seminyak restaurants, which are all nearby. A bonus is the late check out. You don’t want to leave anyway.

The Layar isn’t just a villa, it’s actually an entire estate comprised of 23 designer villas right in the heart of Seminyak. The design is absolutely wonderful and expensive looking but tasteful. Each villa has a kitchen as well as one to 4 bedrooms – in case you aren’t travelling solo.
The living space neatly blends from the villa into the outside pool area. While you are outside in a lush tropical garden, you are still sheltered from the sun thanks to the sloping roofs. The pool is spacious.
Live life to the fullest by booking your private chef for a barbecue by the pool! Or you can get room service and spa treatments. Your concierge will gladly arrange tours, daily excursions, vehicle rentals and even exchange your currency for you.
The Colony Hotel Bali
If you want to feel like Hollywood glamour with its white colonial architectural style, check into The Colony. All of the spacious boutique hotel rooms are built around the private hotel pool. (This means pool views from your hotel room!) You can easily do your laps here as it is 16 metres long.
Ladies, listen up: A huge perk of the hotel is that you can get your massage treatment from award-winning Jari Menari (known as Dancing Fingers) and his all male therapists. Plus, children under 16 years of age aren’t allowed at the hotel, which means extra quiet during your stay.
Seminyak Beach and Seminyak Square are only 300 metres away, meaning you are right in the hub of Seminyak but sheltered enough to feel transported to a tranquil private paradise within. Room rates start from $405 but if you are lucky, you can snatch special Booking basic deals of only $197.
That typical Balinese villa feeling can be found at Villa Jerami. The huge four poster beds with cascading mosquito curtains face the private pool and outdoor seating area. There are plenty of opportunities to get as relaxed as possible.
This includes onsite dining, a full-service spa and free shuttle service to Seminyak, Kuta, and Legian. Overall, the villa location is excellent as Double-Six Beach and Seminyak Square Shopping Centre both are only 5 minutes away by foot.
You will feel super secluded as the entire area of Villa Jerami covers one hectare of land and yet is right within the best neighborhood of Seminyak. This means shopping and eating out to your heart’s content. If you sleep in late, you can also take advantage of in room breakfast. By the way, rates start from $351 but if you are lucky, you can snatch special Booking basic deals of only $191.
